Paul John Edited Old Fashioned BundleBundles
A classic American cocktail, the Old Fashioned originated in Kentucky around the late 19th century. Legend has it that a bartender in the Pendennis Club, Louisville, created the drink for local distiller Colonel James E. Pepper. The drink even inspired the creation of the Old Fashioned glass, a tumbler with a tick glass bottom, capable of withstanding the muddling of the ingredients.
- 50ml whisky
- 5ml sugar syrup
- 3 dashes bitters
- orange slice
- lemon twist
- In a chilled Old Fashioned glass/rocks tumbler, combine sugar syrup and bitters and muddle together with an orange slice.
- Add ice to the glass.
- Pour whisky over the ice.
- Squeeze the lemon twist so the aromatic oils spray over the drink then drop into the glass.
